Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

Rhinoplasty, more commonly referred to as "nose job," is an intricate 1-3 hour-long surgery that is used to improve the overall symmetry of the face and/or to improve a patient's breathing. When rhinoplasty is performed to correct defects that interfere with proper breathing, it is referred to as reconstructive rhinoplasty. This type of rhinoplasty can help patients who have broken their nose, as well as those with a birth defect, such as deviated septum, improve the appearance and function of the nose and also their overall quality of life. The best candidates for rhinoplasty are individuals in good health who understand that plastic surgery will not change their lives completely, but it will help improve them. If considering rhinoplasty, it is best to consult board-certified plastic surgeons as they have the most training and experience in their respective field. After obtaining a medical degree, plastic surgeons usually undergo 3-5 years of general surgery training and 2-3 years of plastic surgery training. Some plastic surgeons choose to undergo additional fellowship training in order to specialize in a certain area of plastic surgery.
