Having Breast Implants Surgery
Silicone and saline breast implants are used to improve, enlarge and enhance a woman's bustline. These implants are inserted during the breast augmentation procedure. In this procedure a surgeon makes an incision in the patient's armpit, navel, around the areola or on the underside of the breast before placing the implant behind, in or in front of the pectoral muscle. Silicone implants are often selected by women with smaller breasts and breast reconstructive surgery patients as these women typically have less tissue to cover the implants. Due to reduce amount of skin to cover the implants, saline implants sometimes ripple under the skin. Even though saline implants do have some drawbacks, there are some advantages. If a saline implant were to rupture, the fluid in the saline implants can be absorbed by the body whereas the liquid in the silicone implants is not. This procedure is different from a breast lift wherein the surgeon actually removes some of the breast and tightens the remaining tissue.
